Lifestyle changes and its effect towards the evolution of human dentition

Abstract Background The dentition of modern humans has evolved from their hominid ancestors to current form. Factors regarding the changes lifestyle such as dietary habits and usage tools have affected evolution human dentition. This article aimed discuss effect on teeth. An online literature search in PubMed database was conducted according inclusion criteria this study. Main body culture transition a hunter-gatherer society agriculture is followed by changes, which result decrease tooth wear due more refined food sources agricultural intensification. By analyzing microwear pattern shear, striation, buccal teeth, hypothesis based occlusal analysis could be examined. Conclusion study tested (shear, pattern) Posterior teeth are closely related diet, while anterior non-dietary tooth-use behaviors, or using tool third hand causes limited striations at labial surface.
